Filey and the coast around it
Filey is the quiet one between Scarborough and Bridlington: a crescent of sand, a working coble landing, and a town that still shuts for tea. Everything below is within an hour of the front door.
Filey beach
Five miles of flat sand, safe swimming and rock pools at the northern end. Four minutes on foot.
Filey Brigg
The rocky finger at the top of the bay — seals, seabirds and one of the best short walks on the coast.
Cleveland Way
The coast path starts here and runs north to Scarborough and beyond along the cliffs.
Bempton Cliffs
Puffins and gannets from April to July, twenty minutes south by car.
Scarborough
Eight miles north for the castle, the Rotunda and fish and chips on the harbour.
North York Moors
Heather, steam trains and moorland pubs, under an hour inland.
